Cold Rooms

We can design walk-in cold and freezer storage to fit almost any requirement, within these parameters. Width is available in 1.8m, 2.4m or 4.8m. Length is unlimited, built in 1.2m increments. Height is 2.1m. Whether you need a small walk-in fridge or a large-scale walk-in freezer, we can configure a unit to match. 

There isn't one. "Cold room" is simply the trade term for a walk-in fridge or walk-in freezer. It's a modular, insulated unit that can be set to fridge or freezer mode as required. So whether you call it cold room hire, walk-in fridge hire or walk-in freezer hire, our units cover all three.

Each compressor motor requires a 16-amp supply, ideally from a socket within 10m of the unit. If you don't have a 16-amp socket, we will supply adaptors to convert from a standard domestic plug. If adaptors are used, the compressor cannot be placed more than 5m from the socket. The number of compressors depends on the size of the unit and is included as standard, whether you're running fridge or freezer mode. 

A cold room can be installed almost anywhere, indoors or outdoors, as long as the ground is flat and the area is well ventilated. Given access, we can build on any indoor level, as well as on scaffolding and platforms outside. Our units are fully waterproof and designed for outdoor use, with taped seams as standard for severe weather. One thing to note is that if a cold room is left outside and the external temperature drops below freezing for a sustained period, the internal temperature may follow, since the compressor cannot heat the air. This means contents in fridge mode could freeze. 

We do. Delivery, installation and collection are all handled by our own team as standard, with a schedule built around your requirements, covering the whole UK, 24 hours a day. Units arrive flat-packed and are built on-site by our team. If you need cold or freezer storage urgently, we can usually have a unit delivered and running within 24 hours, and sometimes the same day, depending on availability. Freezers need to be switched off 24 hours before collection.

Yes. Compressors run in either refrigeration or freezer mode and can be set anywhere from ambient down to -20°C, so you can select and adjust the temperature to suit what you're storing.

Pallets will fit through a double gable door, and Jack stacks will fit through a standard door. For either option, you will need to order a ramp.

Every unit is checked before each hire and serviced annually, so breakdowns are rare. If one happens, keep the door closed to hold the temperature for as long as possible and call us. Engineers are available 24 hours a day and usually resolve issues within a couple of hours. On safety, all doors open from the inside, so there is no risk of being locked in.
